1. Find a timetable that best meets your requirements.
Dr. Lamees Hamdan, inventor of Shiffa Beauty, recommends drinking warm water with lemon and honey first thing in the morning. "Then 15 minutes later, I have breakfast.I spend 15 minutes doing my morning skincare regimen.
"I wash my face with Shiffa Aromatic Facial Cleanser and apply Floral Facial Toner to reduce pore size. I use Rejuvenating Eye Remedy beneath my eyes, White Tea Moisturizer on my face and neck, and Elta MD Oil-Free SPF 45. For makeup, I use RMS Lip2Cheek for cheeks and Nars Dolce Vita lipstick.I make sure I have great skincare so I never have to use foundation.
"I practice Iyengar Yoga once a week, and it has definitely helped with my shoulder issue. I also undertake personal training with Alicia Storm (my physical therapist), who helps me become long, slim, and powerful. In addition, I practice Transcendental Meditation at least once day.I have an office at home, so by 3 p.m., I aim to be home and working from there.I like seeing the kids when they get home from school.
2. Consider yourself a morning exercise guy.
Nancy Twine, inventor of Briogeo haircare, emphasizes the importance of making the most of mornings despite her hectic schedule. "The most crucial component of my morning is maintaining a healthy mix of me-time and productivity. Most mornings, I get up around 6:30 a.m. and prefer to start my day with a little meditation. It allows me to rest and prepare for the day. A few times a week, I'll fit in an early Soul Cycle or a yoga session. I receive such a boost of energy when I can work out in the morning! In terms of makeup, I like to keep my cosmetic regimen simple. I usually apply tinted moisturizer, a few dots of concealer, and some blush, but I always end with a burst of color on my lips! I'm now using Ilia's tinted lip conditioner in Arabian Nights. Before I leave for the office, I use my Vitamix to create a superfood smoothie (with collagen powder, kale, blueberries, and MCT oil) to ensure I have enough greens to get through my morning meetings. Then I get on the train and start checking and answering emails from my phone. I get at the workplace at 8:30 a.m. and start my day with a huge glass of green tea. Green tea has antioxidant advantages and helps me keep hydrated throughout the day. By the time my first meeting begins, I'm completely focused and ready to face the day."
3. Begin your day with calm and peaceful energy.
Elisabeth Halfpapp, co-creator of Core Fusion Barre at Exhale Spa, tells Women's Health that she wakes up at least two hours before teaching or going to work to have a complete meal without hurrying. She also avoids watching TV, news, or listening to music. "I find that if you begin your day with a peaceful, relaxed vibe, it remains with you throughout the day. Then I perform some back and hip stretches, followed by a two-minute plank, to help my mind and body concentrate for the day."
4. Spend peaceful time.
Keri Glassman, creator and president of Nutritious Life, describes her alarm going off at 5:45 a.m. in an interview with Forbes. I am generally quick to get up and leave. I walk into the kitchen, make myself a huge glass of water, and add a lemon slice. Take my vitamins. Turn on the coffee pot—on a good morning, I've already made the coffee the night before.
"Normally, I go to the computer and modify one or two things. I think best in the morning, therefore I keep them for early. Then I move on to the kids' schedule. By 6:45 a.m., I've poured my coffee and prepared breakfast before sitting alone in my living room. I use many sources, including The Post, WSJ, news, and my iPhone. Breakfast options include a smoothie, Ezekiel bread with cashew butter, or porridge with chia seeds and almond butter. At 7 a.m., I complete two sets of push-ups before quickly getting in the shower.
"At 7:15 a.m., I wake the children. I prepare their breakfast and lunch as they get ready (which they now do on their own). To make things go quicker, I've reduced my lunch preparation to one. I exclaim, 'Aaahhhh' at 8:15 a.m., and then the rest of the day starts."
5. Allow time to linger.
Miranda Beverly-Whittemore, a New York Times best-selling author, revealed to Women's Health that she is a bed-lingerer, a behavior she expected to overcome after becoming a mother. "Only I realized that spending a few extra minutes in bed, centering myself for the day, wasn't so much a habit as a necessary way of being, and it made me a far more productive thinker and writer. I'm fortunate that my spouse has a flexible schedule, which we've adjusted to meet his enjoyment of the early morning hours and my desire to remain in bed.Sometimes I sleep, sometimes I meditate, but most of the time it's a cuddling session with my kids or an opportunity to catch up on reading. Even if I don't prioritize my work at this time, beginning with quiet time always pays off later in the day."
